Stuck on Stupid

Mitt Romney, a judge and a murdering convict all walk into a bar....

Ok, stop me if you heard this one.  That's right folks, apparently there's a new flap over a judge that was appointed by Mitt Romney while he was governor of Massachusetts.  Apparently this nitwit judge, one Kathe Tuttman, overrulled a lower court decision and set free one Daniel Tavares, JR.

Mr. Tavares was convicted of murdering his mother with a carving knife.  Obviously a real sweetheart this guy.  He spent 16 years in prison for that crime and was paroled.  Once out on parole he got arrested again, apparently for assualt.  Showing what a fine upstanding citizen he truly is, the dirtbag skipped his court date and fled the state, violating his parole as well.  He fled to Washington state to shack up with some women he met while in prison.

While in Washington state the guy apparently didn't work too hard trying to turn over a new leaf, in fact he's charged with the shooting death of a married couple that lived near his new address in Washington.

Not only does Judge Tuttman set this dirtbag free, she denied the prosecutors request for 50,000 bail.  You really got to wonder what they put in the water up there in Massachusetts.  Being a Superior Court Judge and a former prosecutor herself it stuns me that this nitwit judge can't recognize a flight risk when she sees one.

Naturally these being the campaign season the Guiliani campaign seized the opportunity to point out that this moronic judge was appointed by Mitt Romney.  Rudy had this to say:

"He had an increase in murder and violent crime while he was governor," Giuliani said. "So it's not so much the isolated situation which he and the judge will have to explain — he's kind of thrown her under the bus, so it's hard to know how this is all going to come out. But the reality is, he did not have a record of reducing violent crime."

Pity he didn't throw her under a bus before he nominated her to be a judge - we'd have all been better off.  Naturally Romney's campaign didn't take to kindly to Rudy's statement, Romney spokesman Matt Rhoades fired back with this gem:

"It's troubling that Mayor Giuliani would politicize this tragedy, but the fact is under Governor Romney violent crime in Massachusetts decreased and he had a strong record of appointing law and order judges. When he appointed Judge Tuttman he had every reason to believe she would be too, based on her experience as a prosecutor and her zealous advocacy on behalf of victims."

Sorry Matt, but I don't find it troubling that Rudy would point out that Romney made a piss poor choice in appointing a judge, particularly since the next president just might get the opportunity to make a critical appointment to the Supreme Court.  Nope, I'd be a lot more troubled if someone didn't "politicize" this one, as voters we have a right to know that your boss made a real brain dead move appointing this half wit to any position other than dog catcher.

The Clinton Question

A lot has been made over the recent "Question scandal" in which Hillary Clinton campaign staffers apparently made certain specific questions were planted among "audience" members at a recent campaign event in an effort to make the Senator from New York look like an attractive presidential canidate.

Ok, lets be honest here, it's going to take a lot more than a planted softball question or two to make Hillary look good to most of us here in the heartland.  Also, as far as Clinton scandals go, this one barely even rates on the noticeable scale.  No one involved died, went to prison, suffered a sexual assualt, got bribed, got intimitaded or threatened.  No nuclear secrets were exchanged for campaign contributions, their doesn't seem to be anyone from the communist Chinese government involved this time around and worse yet no one was caught with any documents stuffed down there pants.

Nope, as far as Clinton scandals go this one is barely a blip on the radar.  If anyone at this point isn't aware of the fact that Hillary can't answer an honest question to save her life they must have spent the last 10 years on mars.  The fact that there is yet another scandal involving the Clinton's doesn't surprise me in the least, the fact that there are still people out there wanting to vote for her is what surprises me.
