Moving Day!
Well I spent most of yesterday setting up a blog on a new blog site.
Nothing against Tblog, mind you, but since I'm looking at blogging fairly seriously from here on out I just needed something that would be a little easier to maintain.
And since I'm thinking of adding a few co-bloggers to the roles I also needed something that would accommodate features like this without a lot of rigmarole.
So the new blogsite is up and running here:
http://trobbins1967.wordpress...
I invite you all to stop by and check us out.
Obama slaps Poland, yet again
While Poland is burying it's President and many important political figures, our sensitive, caring, wonderful President is doing what exactly?
You guessed it, out playing golf. Ok, now to be fair he couldn't get over there in Air Force One because of the volcanic ash cloud covering much of Europe.
However, a couple of thoughts occur here. Isn't he the Commander in Chief of the most powerful navy in the entire world? Would it not have been feasible to arrange for naval vessel transport to and from mainland Europe?
If the logistics couldn't be worked out, great, but at least make a huge effort to show Poland you care. If you can't make it to the funeral, then why not head over to the Polish Embassy and express your sympathies to them personally?
Or even have a gathering of Polish-American immigrants in the Rose Garden, a small ceremony honoring Poland's loss?
There were so many classy, thoughtful ways to handle this situation that its not even funny. And what did our wondrous Administration come up with? Well, screw it, we'll just blow it off and go play some golf.
The Polish government was outraged. I can't say as I blame them. Personally I'm sickened and stunned. The only upside to all of this is nobody let that idiot Biden anywhere near a microphone so he could add even more insult to injury, as he always seems to do in times like these.
I have sent my own letter of condolence via email to the Polish Embassy in washington, the email address there is:
washington.consular@msz.gov.pl
I've apologized for the boorish and inexcusable behavior of our Lout in Chief, and expressed my most sincere regret for their loss.
I would encourage others to do the same, for sadly at the moment it looks as if that is the only way the Polish people will ever know that we give a crap one way or the other.
Sadly again we find that our government can't even handle the simplest of tasks that requires virtually no effort whatsoever, and yet these idiots think they're qualified to take over our lives and our economy? Not to worry Poland, your faith will be redeem in 2010 and even more so in 2012, when we retire what is without a doubt one of the worst President's in all of American history.
Nominations for the Bozo of the Week Award

In the history of dumb ideas a few really stand out. Having a republican Senator like Linsdey Graham Co-sponsering a bill to raise gasoline taxes, on April 15th, supposedly to protect us all from the debunked myth of global warming when thousands upon thousands are taking to the streets today to protest taxes being too high? Well, that's the sort of stupidity that really makes one stand up and take notice.

I'll be the first to admit Megan Fox is smoking hot. Sadly however recently she started talking and ruined the whole thing. In a recent commercial she took Arnold, California Governor to task because he wasn't spending enough on education.
Megan, hon, I realize that your just trying to help a cause you believe in, and that's great. But sadly your pretty much beating a dead horse there. The reason Arnie can't give the schools more money is because he doesn't have any money to give them. California is flat busted broke. Years and years of out of control spending by liberal politicians, coupled with unions (yes dear, even the teachers union) having way too much power has resulted in the state pretty much not having a dime to it's name.
I realize Arnold talked a good game about how he'd "take on" the power establishment in Sacramento and then the first chance he got he started spending money like a drunken sailor himself, so no, were no fan of Arnold and his phony conservatism.
But sadly Megan there isn't any money in the state budget at all, the only thing Arnold can give the public schools at this point is an IOU. This is pretty much what happens when you spend more money than you make.

Yes, Representative Russ Carnahan is the proud owner of a 42 foot yacht, one that he leaves birthed on the Illinois side of the river so he can avoid paying taxes on it.
I'm amazed that Russ apparently can go to work in Washington D.C. and yammer on and on about how the rich need to pay their fair share of taxes with a straight face while all the while he spends most of his free time figuring out how to cheat on paying his own "fair" share.
Wasn't this supposed to be the most ethical congress ever? Oh well, so much for that promise I guess. Not to worry though folks, I'm sure Timmy Geitner can drop by Russ's for his next big yacht party and show him how to use Turbo Tax to square all of this away in no time.
Stupak Retires to spend more time with family. Family demands Recount.

Sorry folks, realize that this isn't exactly a "new" news item, but it's been a busy couple of days and I haven't really had much of a chance to comment on these events just yet.
Yes, seems like old Bart took one look at his polling numbers and realized, much as I did without looking at the polls, that he's odds on getting re-elected were about as good as Obama's odds of getting signed by the Yankee's as a pitcher.
So out trots little Bart in front of the media trying to sell a load of fertilizer about how the "tea parties" had nothing to do with his decision and how it was all based on "wanting to spend more time with my family". Unnamed sources say the family is demanding a recount, I'm guessing they'd rather have the two face weasel spend more time in DC. Can't say as I blame them.
As usual Stupak's theatrics are way over the top here. First he comes out and lays out a bunch of big talk about how "principled" he is and how he can't vote for health care because of his stance on abortion. But when push comes to shove he sells his vote, and quite frankly his soul, to Obama and company for the bargain basement price of some maintenance on a few crummy airports.
His "principled" stand turns out to be little more than a political tactic, holding out till the last minute in order to get the biggest bribe he can get for his vote.
Funniest thing? He can't for the life of him seem to figure out why this upset people. I'd like to say Stupak is an anomaly in the halls of congress, but sadly that simply isn't true at all.
Fortunately however it is now the Stupak family that will have to put up with his phony moralizing and self serving twaddle, the American people are now free of this sanctimonious fraud. And not a moment too soon, I might add.
With Friends Like This...

Well apparently Obama is off for another round of bowing to communist dictators and toadies. China can add it's name to the list of countries that have had the President of the United States bow before them.
Interesting isn't it, that he'll bow before all manner of people but this is the way he chooses to treat one of our oldest and most trusted allies?
That's right, the picture above is our Socialist Appeaser in Chief, acting like an arrogant ass to longtime ally Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel.
So apparently the Obama foriegn policy goes something like this, if a country has been your ally you treat them like dirt. If a country has a worthless despot at the helm with a horrible human rights record and does everything it can to undermine you around the globe, you bow down and kiss their feet.
Wow.. there's some hope and change for you. I think all we can hope for is that America has wised up enough to retire this worthless clown in 2012.
Irony, thy name is ObamaCare
That's right, the brain surgeons in congress who've taken control of your health care did such a careful job with this new health care bill they manged too add themselves to the rolls of the uninsured.
The new law bars members of Congress from the federal employees health program on the assumption that the lawmakers should join the new insurance exchanges.
The problem? Well, the exchanges won't be setup and running until 2014, but because nobody read this piece of crap bill before signing it they failed to notice that the portion of the law that barred Congress from the federal employees health program didn't have any mention of when that portion of the law took effect.
Since it's a well-established canon of statutory interpretation that any law that doesn't specify otherwise takes effect on the date of it's enactment, the minute Obama signed this piece of crap into law every member of Congress lost their health insurance.
That's right folks, the people who just took charge of your health care have as their first official act of the new stewards of our health system managed to leave themselves with no health insurance whatsoever for the next 4 years.
I don't know about you, but gosh, I'm just brimming with confidence that our new health care system is going to be just so much better than the old one with these folks now in charge of it. Seriously, for those of you that supported our current Socialist in Chief, is this the sort of "Change" you "Hoped" for?
The Death of a Hero
Many people here in the United States probably don't know much about President Kacynski, much to the shame of our useless and sycophantic press corps which spends more time ingratiating itself to all the right liberals (such as the Nobel Prize Committee) than actual reporting the news.
So who was President Kacynski? He was a man who wasn't afraid to stand up for what was right, for what he believed in - a man who put principle ahead of politics. When we invaded Iraq in 2003 very few nations actually showed us any real support. Our "traditional" allies, like Germany and France, where no where to be found.
Only a small handful of nations like England, Australia and Poland gave us any real, meaningful support in the effort. Poland, a small nation placing itself at great risk by inspiring the ire of the Russian Federation for supporting us, but support us they did under Kacynski's leadership.
And how did we thank them? Well the Obama administration announced that they would scrap missile defense for Poland on the 70th Anniversary of the date in which they were invaded by Russia. Why just disappoint a close friend an ally by deserting them when you can take the opportunity to spit in their faces while your at it? It was one of the few days I was ashamed to admit I'm an American.
Nice, huh? Well this was one of just several indignities stalwart allies like Poland have had to suffer at the hands of our Lout in Chief. Sadly though there will never be a Nobel Prize for Kacynski, for while the Nobel committee does give out statues for appeasement (The "Peace Prize") they don't give out awards for things like guts, determination, and doing what is right instead of what is politically expedient. More is the pity.
So our hearts go out to the family and friends of President Kacynski and the others who died in this terrible tragedy. And while this probably won't receive much play in the lame stream media of our own nation, we give our thanks to the patriots of Poland, those who have sacrificed so much for their own great nation and for ours.
President Kacyniski, indeed all of Poland deserved far more reciprocation than the shameful treatment they received from the Obama administration. Removing missile defense should never have even been an option. Poland deserved much, much better. President Kacyniski deserved much better.
Today we mourn the passing of a real world leader. A man who should have gotten the awards and accolades for his accomplishments and for his vision, awards and accolades that sadly went to a man of no accomplishments and no honor whatsoever.
The polish have a saying, Words must be weighed, not counted. We've weighed the words, and the actions of President Kacyniski, and we salute both the man and the leader who will be sorely missed in these troubled times.
A grain of SALT
Yes, President Obama assures us that this will be a bold new step in the reduction of nuclear arms proliferation and that lo and behold the world will be a safer place.
Of course given all of the assurances we've had from the Obama Administration, this one, like most, is almost all blow and virtually no show.
First this treaty does nothing to address any of the real world threats we face, such as Iran or China. Neither of them have agreed to limit their pursuit of nuclear weapons or amassing huge stockpiles of them.
Second the Russians really aren't giving up much for this treaty, in point of fact neither are we since the way nuclear weapons are "counted" this isn't going to really mean a significant reduction by either side.
I think a couple of things are pretty clear now. One, we have a pretty good idea what the Obama Administration got in exchange for selling out our Eastern European Allies by denying them the missile shield. He got an utterly meaningless treaty that will look good on his resume for the Nobel Prize committee and grab him a few headlines, giving the lame stream media yet one further opportunity to overuse the word "historic" for what is by and large a total non-accomplishment.
My grandfather would have referred to this as "buying a pig in a poke". For those of you who aren't familiar with this expression, it originated in the middle ages. Back then meat was pretty scarce, and there were certain unscrupolous folks who would put a cat in a sack (the sack being referred to back then as a poke). They would convince an unwary buyer that the creature wiggling around in the "poke" or sack was a pig, when in fact it was just a cat. The buyer would pay a handsome sum of money only to discover later that what he had purchased wasn't a nice, suckling pig, but rather a worthless cat, not worth much as a source of meat.
This is pretty much in essence what this treaty represents, there just isn't any real meat here at all. The worst part of all of this is that despite the fact that we haven't really lost much in the terms of number of warheads what we really have lost is our commitment to develop and update our warhead technology.
This is a huge, serious, major mistake on the administrations part. Further research and development in this area is an absolute must to keep pace with changing technology and to ensure that our nuclear deterrent remains a strong deterrent against any sort of an attack.
This mistake is further compounded by the Obama Administrations insistence that we disclose under which circumstances we would respond with nuclear weapons and under which we will not, basically affording our enemies a whole host of options on how to attack us without incurring a nuclear response.
This is dangerous, stupid, and just really really bad policy all the way around. All Obama has really "accomplished" here is to weaken our nation tremendously without really gaining anything of substance in return.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news folks, but the thing wriggling around in that sack we just bought is nothing more than a worthless alley cat.
Obama Surrenders in Advance, Just in Case
But today I think is perhaps the most historic day imaginable, a day when our nation capitulates, in advance, to enemy attacks of all sorts.
Today the Obama Administration announced that we would not use nuclear weapons to defend ourselves, even from a chemical or biological attack.
The level of stupidity accompanying such an announcement is near mind boggling. You see, the whole usefulness of a nuclear weapon is that it is such a terrible deterrent that people don't dare attack for fear of massive retaliation.
It's bad enough we've told our enemies exactly what we will and won't do in regards to interrogation, essentially hamstringing our intelligence agencies.
It's bad enough that every time we plan an attack in Afghanistan we make sure to tell our enemy not only where the attack will come but when, so they can have plenty of time to prepare.
No, now we have to one up our "obviously no clue what were doing" strategy by announcing to our enemies in advance, hey, if you attack us with chemical or biological weapons don't worry, we won't nuke you back.
What is quite obvious here is that Obama and his cronies have absolutely no appreciation for the sort of people their are dealing with on the other side of the table.
Were dealing with people who have no compunction about murdering thousands, even millions of innocent civilians. They have no compunction about cutting peoples heads off. They have no compunction at all about murdering anyone that doesn't agree with their narrow, misguided view of their chosen religion.
And for some bizarre reason Obama and most of the rest of his clueless advisers seem to keep going down the same road of, "well maybe if we just give in on this small point they'll see reason". Over and over again they acquiesce, and each time it only makes matters worse.
I have a news flash for the "brain trust" running our foreign policy at the moment. It doesn't matter how "reasonable" you are to them, they aren't going to see reason because they are not reasonable people. It ain't rocket science boys. You cannot expect irrational, hateful people to see reason. It just doesn't work.
Every time you make announcements like this the terrorist cheer and their ranks swell, because to them announcements like this are a major victory. They see this as a clear indication that the administration is spineless and lacks the will necessary to oppose them.
Sadly, it seems, I think they might just be right.
Would Somebody Hand Jeffery Imelt a fiddle?
CNN and most other News shows are in a similar ratings tail spin, showing numbers so bad that if they were any other show on the network odds were good they would have been cancelled and replaced with reruns of MASH or Everbody Loves Raymond.
The truth is almost all of the traditional, or what is often referred to as "Main Stream" media is in terrible financial trouble.
Subscription rates at the New York Times are dismal at best and Air America is bankrupt and off the air completely, and those in charge of such operations seem to be a total loss to explain why.
The answer of course is simple. No one trusts the old, liberal media anymore. Time after time we've seen them spin stories to suit their political biases or bury stories all together if it didn't have the narrative they wanted it to have at the outset.
While there are plenty of deniers to the idea that the old media is liberally biased, their are tons of examples that one can point to that prove it beyond the shadow of any doubt. Ask anyone who is even an occasionaly news watcher who Anita Hill is and they can tell you almost instantly, she's the woman who accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harrasment. Ask that same news savvy person who Juanita Broaddrick is and unless they rely on sources outside the mainstream media odds are good they'll have no idea.
Juanita Broaddrick, of course, is the lady who accused Bill Clinton of raping her while he was Governer of Arkansas. The accusation surfaced while he was President of the United States. And yet if you were watching the mainstream media and using it as your information source you've probably never even heard of her, this story was pretty much buried by the MSM even though they ran with the Clarence Thomas story for weeks, indeed even months. Why? Simple, Thomas's political views didn't agree with those held by the MSM, Clinton's did.
Look at how they treated Wiley, Jones, Flowers, and even Tripp during the Clinton years. The MSM savaged these women, spending countless hours and untold resources digging up every ounce of dirt they could find on them and displaying it for all the world to see, because they were saying bad things about a man who's political views agreed with their own.
Dan Rather's career ending "Memogate" is but one example of how far the media is willing to go to tarnish those who hold an opposing political viewpoint, and it wasn't another reporter or "mainstream" media outlet that caught Rather red handed. It was bloggers that exposed him and kept the story alive until the mainstream media was forced to finally respond.
No the death of the mainstream media is entirely a case of suicide. Watch MSNBC or CNN for even two hours and you walk away with no doubt in your mind that the people have a definate left wing bias and that what your hearing is more propoganda than news.
Imagine how laughable it would be if someone from the Today Show were to ask President Obama if Biden's references to himself as "Sherrif Joe" wouldn't be percieved by Republican's as a threat of violence. Such an inane question is the sort of thing even most 5th graders have more common sense than to ask, and yet this is how the media approaches interviews with John McCain over his previous VP running mate Sarah Palin.
The bias is thick, pallable and abundantly obvious to anyone with half a brain. And that is preciesly why viewers are leaving these programs in droves and seeking their news sources elsewhere. Their tired of news that presents a single political point of view and actively works to discredit the opposing viewpoint. They also get pretty fed up with being referred to as a "bunch of tea-bagging racist rednecks" when nothing could be further from the truth.
The Main Stream media has shown no compunctions about making up stories, burying stories, or slanting questions and cover up for all manner of human failings and weaknesses for those who's politics they support. But for those who's politics they oppose they attack like a pack of rabid dogs, doing everything they can to belittle, disparage and damage their credibility. Just ask any tea-bagging redneck how kind the MSM has been in portraying them as racists, homophobes and violent extremists all for having the temerity to say that ObamaCare is too expensive and a bad idea.
Over the past few years it's gotten more and more blatent, to the point where no one really trusts the MSM anymore. They have stopped thinking of them as a source of news and started seeing them more for what they truly are, the publicity and propoganda wing of the Democratic party.
And those that head these so-called news organizations seem to be completely clueless as to why their ratings are tanking this fast and this hard.
It's not rocket science, when you consider that the vast majority of the people who are regular consumers of the news do not hold a liberal viewpoint, and their sick to death of having it shoved down their throats. They want to see some honest reporting for a change. They want to see politicians on both sides of the aisle face some tough questions.
But the MSM only tactic thus far is to attack Fox News and Fox News personalities in an effort to paint them as right wing extremists.
But from the ratings I guess nobody is falling for the the old "Look at how black that kettle is" routine when the pot screaming about it is every bit as bad if not a whole lot worse.
I don't imagine it will be long now before the Mainstream media's ratings fall to the point where those who are funding these shows begin to realize they are no longer getting much bang for their buck.
Sure, they'll still want to present their left wing propoganda, but eventually their numbers will bottom out to the point where the only ones left watching are their loyal, kool-aid guzzling drones and all of their propoganda is just being wasted on an audience that is in lockstep with them already.
Not much point in continuing to preach if the only ones left are the choir, since they've all heard this sermon a dozen times before anyway.
So a note to Mr. Imelt, and the folks at CNN, and the Today show, et al. Your rapidly becoming irrelevant. Wise up. Start doing some honest, balanced coverage for a change. Otherwise you folks will eventually be as extinct as the dinosaurs.
And no, that's not a right wing threat of violence, just a simple statement of truth.
The Obama Legacy, Failure, Corruption and Shame
But for all of the failings of the previous administration not since the Carter years have we had a President who is such an abysmal failure at nearly everything a President is supposed to do while in office.
The level of corruption in Congress and this administration sets an all time new high in lows. The bribery, Chicago style politics, the absolute and unbelievable amount of backroom deals and hubris simply boggles the mind.
So, on the domestic policy front, what has our great leader done for us? He's rammed through a monstrosity of a health care "reform" bill that another blogger referred to, aptly I think, as Castrocare.
This bill, which almost no one read before passing it into law, creates a brand new, completely unsustainable entitlement and pretty much gives government almost total control over our health care industry. Granted, it's not the "government option" that they originally wanted, but it's as bad if not worse. These "co-ops" they are mandating are pretty much Freddy and Fanny for the healthcare industry.
And I think we all remember just what a great job Government control and regulation of the housing market worked out. They nearly bankrupted our entire nation, and for some bizarre reason their are still a small minority of people out there who are convinced this is a good idea. Boggles the mind.
On the foriegn policy front, we've managed to slight all of our strongest allies, Great Britain and Israel just to name a few.
We've backpedaled on Iran, making it almost certain that barring direct action by Israel they will become a nuclear power, which is a total disaster for the middle east. We know that Iran has been a major financial backer of terrorist groups like Hezbollah and others for years. Even your most "peace loving" beatnik should realize that giving a violent, fanatical regime who's friendly to terrorist groups access to atomic weapons is probably the most idiotic thing imaginable.
But the administration continues to cozy up to dictators and despots while refusing to even meet publicly with longtime allies like Israel.
I seriously doubt Obama will get himself re-elected, but I'm not sure if that's going to be enough. He's already amassed more debt in a little over one year in office than every other president in recorded history combined.
It's like watching a kid with his dad's credit card going on an out of control spending spree. Unfortunately for us it's going to be the American taxpayer who ends up footing the bill.
Thirty six thousand dollars. That's what your household owes right now today thanks to our national debt, and that is just what we owe right now. That doesn't take into account Obama's new Castrocare or any of the rest of his increases in spending, that figure just represents your liability as of this moment in time, today.
Just imagine what your kids are going to end up owing if this keeps up, and this is what Obama has managed to do in less than half of his first term.
So I'm encouraging everyone to get out there, get active and fight the horrific policies of the most socialist President since FDR.
Make sure to keep the pressure on our elected representatives in Congress and slow down Obama's legislative agenda as much as humanly possible.
And when you step into the election booth this November, remember every time you vote for a democrat your voting to increase the $36,000 you already owe as fast as they can possibly increase it.
You can forget the myth of the "blue dog", "centrist", "fiscally responsible" democrat. If this health care debacle taught us anything is that there is no such thing as a moderate democrat. When push comes to shove they'll vote party line everytime, regardless of how bad the bill is for our nation.
So remember, everytime you vote democrat your voting to put your kids and grandkids so far into debt odds are good they'll never get out again. Everytime you vote democrat your casting a vote to destroy our nation and turn us into a 3rd rate banana republic.
I'm sure they'll be more than a few people who will probably say that this is "over the top". But Obama has done this much damage with a congressional majority in just a year and a half. Just imagine what they could do with 8 full years of control.
What you probably don't know about the new ObamaCare bill
Did you know that Congress and it's staff is exempt from this bill? Yup, that's right, no matter what happens to our health care theirs is completely protected from the horrific effects of this bill. Funny isn't it, that if they thought this was such a great idea in the first place they took such pains to exempt themselves, their staff and their own families.
Did you know that this bill establishes a brand new militia who's officers are appointed by the President and exist outside the current military structure of the guards and reserves? Probably haven't heard to much about this one yet, but it's in the bill. The President will have his very own paramilitary force now to call on in times of "national emergency" that are not beholden to any state governor (like the national guard) or covered under the regular military rank structure (such as the reserves or active duty military). Nope, the President will soon have his own hand picked private little army that he can call upon anytime he feels there is a "national emergency", and there isn't anything in the bill to define what sort of "emergency" qualifies.
Did you know that the bill requires you to enroll in a "qualified plan" to prevent being penalized? So what is a "qualified plan" according to the bill? Whatever the Secretary of Health and Human services says is a qualified plan, subject to change at any time on any whim. Yup, the Health and Human Services Secretary, an unelected official appointed by the president, now has total control over what sort of health insurance you'll be forced by law to purchase.
Did you know that the bill contains a provision for pretty much unlimited grants? It provides for grants to community "entities" with no required qualifications except having "documented community activity and experience with community healthcare workers"? So groups like say, ACORN, could receive more or less unlimited funding for all sorts of activities quite easily under provisions like this one, and it's doubtful anyone in the sycophantic media will be keeping an eye on something like this. There is no requirement that any of this money be spent for the purposes of "health care", only that the "entity" in question has a "documented community activity and experience with community healthcare workers". So if you can produce a piece of paper that documents that you have "experience" with community healthcare workers guess what? Your organization can get pretty much unlimited federal funding to do with whatever strikes your fancy, such as political activities designed to support democratic candidates. Yup, all perfectly legal under this bill.
Did you know this bill grants sex offenders the right to taxpayer subsidized viagra?
This is only a small cross section of the really horrible things found in this bill, and doesn't even begin to address the untold damage this monstrosity will do to both our health care system and our economy.
Another Day, Another Broken Obama Promise..
After Mary Landriue's 300 million dollar Louisiana Purchase, the 100 Million that Ben Nelson got over ten years for the Cornhusker kickback, The 10 Billion that Bernie Sanders got for "community health centers", Poor little Bart is really looking more and more like a really cheap whore, at least by congressional standards.
I'd hazard a guess that if you added up all the bribes and sweetheart deals it took to get this legislation passed that would pretty much negate any projected "savings" this new legislation is supposed to provide. I suppose it doesn't matter though, since the "savings" are all an illusion anyway.
But no the real story here is that after promising the so-called "pro-life" democrats that he'd sign an executive order banning the federal funding of abortions Obama appears to be backing out on the deal.
First of course he was going to sign it "right away", and now we here that "right away" has become "soon, but no today". You can pretty much expect Robert Gibbs to duck this question for a week or so and then the order will most likely never get signed.
Thanks of course to a sycophantic media you won't hear about it again, and everyone will go along there merry way. Sad thing is even if they do sign the executive order odds are good it will simply be rescinded later, quietly and behind closed doors when they think no one is watching.
But for all the high minded moralizing the democratic party did about "principles" and for all of Stupak's hand wringing I think two things are abundantly clear. First and foremost there is absolutely no such thing as a "blue dog", "moderate", or "centrist" democrat. They simply don't exist. If your a member of the democratic party you will follow the hard left line when push comes to shove. The only time you'll "stand on principle" is when they don't really need your vote to pass it in the first place. So much for the Stupak 12. What a joke.
The second lesson that needs to be learned here is that Washington in general, most specifically Congress, is a total cesspool of blatant, unbelievable corruption. For all of the media's attempts at disguising this filthy process with terms like "sausage making" the American people know the truth. Your "representative" doesn't represent you, he represents far more nefarious interests and the question isn't "will he vote for legislation that will bankrupt us" the question is "what will he take for a bribe to get his vote".
We need to stop letting 30% of our population decide who supposedly "represents" us based soley on biased media sources who prop up candidates and hide their shortcomings just because they agree with their politics.
In short folks come November we need to clean house. We need to toss the vast majority of these self serving weasels out on their collective derriere's and put people in there who realize that the days of out of control government are over.
We are a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. And it's high time Congress got that simple message, loud and clear.
Corruption, Greed, and Hubris - Good Luck In 2010
Now, for those of you who have already surmised that my analogy has to do with this abomonation that the Obama Administration has railroaded through congress you are quite correct. But in this instance they have created a storm of an entirely different fashion, a storm that will most likely strike with an untold amount of destruction to the Democratic party.
They turned a deaf ear to the will of the people. They've decided, in total arrogance, that the people will "understand" once they see how good this new bill really is - which is quite laughable considering almost none of these pathetic loudmouth's can even tell you whats in the bill themselves. The truth is most of them don't even know. How could they? This has been rushed through at ever step and at each stage our "estimeed" members of Congress have had less than 72 hours to digest massive overhauls and changes to a bill they never really had the chance (or probably desire) to read in the first place.
One element, one cell of a perfect storm. A congress out of touch with it's constitiuents, who despite all of the lame stream media's best attempts at propoganda overwhelmingly reject Obamacare. Despite all the lies that have been told and all of the horrible lack of fact checking done the vast majority of American's are still smart enough to figure out that the numbers behind this debacle stink to high heaven. They are laughable at best, and criminal at worst. Bernie Madoff will likely spend the rest of his life in jaile for his ponzi scheme and his ponzi scheme was chump change in comparison to this ponzi scheme foisted on the American people by an out of control Congress.
The second cell? Remember when we used to say, "It's the economy stupid?" Well that's cell #2 alright. This thing is a job killer, plain and simple. A slew of new taxes on health care providers and equipment doesn't "control" healthcare costs, it makes them skyrocket. So does requiring companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions at the drop of a hat. Yes folks, if you think the economy is bad now, just wait - cause the only jobs this bill is going to create is the new ones over at the IRS. We'll add a few thousand new IRS agents and cost our economy a million jobs plus probably over the next year alone.
Cell number three, "It's the PROCESS, STUPID". For all of their tired, overused rhetoric about how people should avoid the process, Democrats just can't seem to grasp the concept that people are tired of the corruption. Their tired of seeing their own hard earned money themselves and their childrens future tossed under the bus so some filthy, corrupt weasel in congress can get 3 new airports built in his district in exchange for his vote on healtcare. I'd say Bart Stupak's odds of getting relected are about as likely as snow falling in Hell, and that's probably a kind estimate.
You add it all up folks, and the political firestorm this will ignite is likely to ensure the Democratic party will be a minority party for another 20+ years. And they did all of this to pass a bill that quite frankly doesn't have much of a chance to withstand all of the serious Constitutional challenges it raises.
The notion that Congress can mandate that people by health insurance under the "interstate commerce clause" is laughable on it's face. You cannot claim a Constitutional right to regulate commerce that is only taking place because you mandated that it occur in the first place, it's ridiculous in the extreme.
There are so many other portions of this bill that face such challenges it's not even funny. Now, we all know that the Obama Administration will use this bill to use federal funding for abortions, despite all their outright lies to the contrary.
So, if your religion teaches that abortion is morally wrong and a crime against God how can a Congress, that is specifically forbidden by the Constitution to intefere with a person's free practice of reliigion suddenly given the power to force a person who's religion teaches abortion is wrong to pay for someone to peform such a procedure on a third party?
Even if you happen to support abortion "rights" you'd better take a real, long hard minute or two to think that one over. The erosion of freedoms this bill represents are frightening, to say the least.
But this isn't over, not by a long shot. There are dozens of states who area already line up to take this all the way to the Supreme Court and get this piece of garbage tossed into the trash can where it belongs.
So the end result of all this? You just pissed off more than half the electorate for a bill that most likely won't survive it's first Constitutional challenge much less the dozens of others that are likely to follow so you did this all for something that most likely won't even be a law a year or two from now.
In the meantime unemployment and health care insurance premiums skyrocket as businesses try to prepare as best they can for the total mess this morons in Congress have just created.
And all of this with an election just around the corner. Rather makes you wonder just who is running this show, doesn't it?
Hello ObamaCare, Goodbye Constitution - the Slaughter Rule
But that can't happen with Obamacare. For all of the bribes, kickback's and dirty deals used the Senate version of Obamacare barely passed the first time through with the needed 2/3's majority. And now that Scott Brown has been elected, guess what? They are one short of the needed 2/3's majority in the Senate.
So, how to make Obamacare law? Well, first the Democrats looked at reconciliation. But they have a serious problem there, you see in order to be eligible for reconciliation a bill first has to become law. That means you would have to pass the Senate version of Obamacare in the house with a 2/3'rds majority, then have the President sign it.
But most House members have issues with the Senate version of the Bill, and once it becomes law all they have to rely on is the Senate's word that the Senate would allow them to fix it. Once the Senate version is law all the Senate has to do is say, "nope, not going to change that now" and it's still a law. That's a pretty big leap of faith for the House to make.
So along comes the so-called "Slaughter Rule". What is it? Bascially it's a rule that would short circuit our Constitution and completely throw all the rules on how a bill is passed out the window.
The House would "deem" the Senate version of Obamacare into law, thus allowing them to take it to reconciliation without a 2/3's majority vote in the house and without having the Senate version signed by the President. The net result? The House would declare the Senate version Law for the purposes of reconciliation but not actually have it signed into law and thus it wouldn't be binding unless they could get what they wanted out of reconciliation. The biggest problem? The House has no such authority, not by the wildest stretch of the imagination. This is without a doubt and in no uncertain terms completely unconsitutional.
The real result? The real result would be shredding our Constitution, because using such legislative tricks it would be possible to vote most anything you wanted in from here on out with a simple majority, something our founders never wanted and quite explicitly stated in the Constitution was not how our government was supposed to work.
You see folks, for the Democrats are working on a very simple and straightfoward principle, the ends justify the means. I would suggest that they perhaps take a look at a much more tried and true axiom, the Road to Hell is paved with Good Intentions.
Biden Tells Iran : Stop Building Nukes or we'll scold you again!
He'd tell Iran in no uncertain terms that the US was not going to allow them to develop a working nuke. After all, no one from the US has ever said that before, right? Ok, well no not really. We've had dozens and dozens of such proclamations from a wide variety of US officials and even former US presidents all saying the same thing.
Well I guess in Sheriff Joe's defense he's probably been way to busy making sure that every dollar of that stimulus money was wisely spent. Oh yes, he did such a wonderful job with that it's small wonder the administration made him their point man on Iraq. I'm sure their shaking in their shoes over there now.
So I'm sure this warning from Sheriff Joe will do the trick, even though to date Iran has summarily ignored all previous warnings on this subject. Truth is they'll ignore this too. Why? Simple. Iran wants the bomb and they realize the United States, and in particular this new administration, simply lacks the political will to stop them. So the Obama administration continues on this path of failed negotiation and Iran does what North Korea did before it, they make ovetures and pretend to be a "peaceful" nation and all the while they are developing nukes just as fast as they possibly can.
They bamboozled the UN for years, not difficult to do once one realizes how incredibly inept and corrupt the an the UN has become as an organization.
I think the thing that amazes me the most in all of this is the liberal mindset. We've all heard from years that the problem here is the United States. If we were just nicer to these people then we wouldn't have these problems. That's pretty much the standard liberal thinking on all of this, right?
Well Obama and his administration have been about as nice as one can be, going way out of their way to apologize for our nation, to bow to foriegn leaders in deference, you name it. We've heard from the left for years that if we just had somebody like Obama in office, a "intellectual", someone the world could "respect", why then everything would be different.
So much for that theory I guess. But the thing I find most incredulous about this entire situation is that the Obama administration goes into full on attack mode against anyone that disagrees with their opinion - from the opposition party to the tea partiers to Fox news and even most recently the Supreme Court.
But they can't seem to muster even the most miniscule amount of will power to confront America's enemies. Instead they want to take the one's we've captured, grant them all rights as if they were American citizen's who committed a petty crime instead of enemy combatants who tried to murder actual American citizens and soldiers.
And in dealing with rogue nations like Iran, Palestine, Syria, and even North Korea the do nothing but apologize and appease. I guess their too busy confronting the real "evil" in the world, those nasty conservatives who oppose health care because they don't want our country going bankrupt.
I guess all we can hope for at this point is that Obamacare will cover radiation burns and radiation sickness.
Your blaming the wrong George...
I recently asked on poster, who uses this particular tactic in almost every post, if by his logic after 14 months in office that everything Obama had done or hadn't done could be blamed on George Bush, then wouldn't it be fair using the same logic to blame everything he disliked about the Bush Presidency on President Clinton?
After all if President Clinton had actually wanted too we could have had Bin Laden in prison long before 9/11 even happened, thus no 9/11, thus no Iraq War, etc... If President Clinton had managed to get Hillarycare passed, there would have been no need for the prescription drug entitlement of the Bush years.
If the Clinton administration with the assistance of Barney Frank et al hadn't started the policy of forcing banks to lend money to people who couldn't afford to buy houses in the name of social equality, no housing bubble, no economic collapse, my goodness no mess for Obama to inherit.
But hey, why stop there.. why not trace this problem back to it's very source? That's right, none other than Numero Uno, George Washington. If he'd just accepted a position as our first Monarch rather than our first President then Obama wouldn't have to worry about that pesky Constitution, or an obstructionist congress, or any of that nonsense.
So, please, oh liberal ones, stop blaming Bush. Start directing your ire at the real source of all your problems. Yes, the son of Augustine and Mary, that dang George Washington. If Washington hadn't passed all his problems onto John Adams, and Adams hadn't handed them off to Thomas Jefferson, and if Jefferson hadn't given his headaches to James Madison, who quite rudely left that entire mess at the doorstep of James Monroe, who then passed them all down to a succession of people from John Quincy Adams all the way to Ronald Reagan, then Clinton wouldn't have had the issues he had to deal with and then he couldn't have forwarded them on to Bush, who then summarily passed them all onto the shoulders of poor, abused Barack Obama. Obviously he should be held entirely blameless for everything, despite the fact that he spent more than a year shooting off his mouth to anyone that would listen that he wanted this job, that he had all the answers and that he could fix everything.
So yes, my progessive/socialist/libe ral friends, blame the guy who got us here. George Washington. If he'd just lost that first War we ever fought as a nation or taken the liberal route and not fought it at all, we'd all still be happy citizens of a colony of the United Kingdom and have access to Universal Healthcare, well at least until sometime next week when there entire economy collapses and they become the next Greece.
So yes, don't blame Bush, don't blame Clinton, blame Washington. He's the one that got this whole ridiculous notion of a nation based on freedom and equality kicked off in the first place.
Much Ado About Massa
Ok, yes, I know - his allegations against the White House have had many touting him as a "conservative hero" of sorts, but while the hair tussling, tickle fighting congressman obviously wants us to believe his behaviour was "wrong, but innocent" I'm finding that more than just a bit hard to swallow.
Now granted, this is more gut reaction than anything based on solid fact, but it stands to reason that if these allegations had no substance whatsoever he wouldn't have resigned, or at least he wouldn't have resigned in such a massive hurry.
However despite the fact that Congressman Massa is probably telling a version of events that is designed to obfuscate the truth and put himself in the best light possible, I cannot completely dismiss his statements in regards to pressure being brought to bear on him by fellow democrats.
We've seen in no uncertain terms that the Democratic party will excuse just about any sort of disgusting behavior, be it sexual relations with interns, male prostituion rings or tax evasion and bribe taking provided the Democrat in question votes along party lines and sticks up for all the "right" causes. Democrats were all to quick to rally around behind the likes of Bill Clinton, Barney Frank and Charlie Rangel and protect them to the fullest extent despite their despicable behaviour.
No the evidence here is pretty clear, whether you believe Massa's account of a rather bizarre all nude debate with Rahm in the showers of the congressional gym or not, I think it's fairly obvious that if Massa had been playing ball with the party they would have covered his bad behavoir just like they have for so many others in the past.
But Massa is most certainly not a "conservative" or "blue dog" by any stretch of the imagination. His objection to the health care bill had nothing to do with it being bad for our country or a budget buster or anything along those lines. His beef was that it wasn't a big enough government take over to suit his tastes. He wanted the full on total government take over of a single payer system and refused to vote for any bill that wasn't that far to the left.
I think it's fairly safe to say that Congressmen Massa definately has some issues with the truth, and that whatever the whole story is it hasn't been released to the public and probably never will be since that's they way these things usually work.
But even given Massa's obvious obfuscations, I think it's also safe to say that if the Democrats could have counted on him for a yes vote on obamacare they probably would have given him all the political cover he needed and wouldn't have pushed this ethics investigation. Even Rangel, with all of his obvious, glaring ethics violations wasn't forced to resign. All he did was "take a leave of absence", and I think we all know that he'll be back as chairman of the House Way's and Means committee just as soon as the public fervor dies down and they can sneak him back in without too much outcry.
I think the one thing we can take away from this whole, sordid mess is that corruption is alive and well in Washington D.C. and that the democrats will stop at absolutely nothing to get this monstrosity passed.
ObamaCare, just where do you think that money comes from?
I guess my question to this individual, and to anyone else who supports ObamaCare, is a simple one. Just where do you think the money is going to come from to pay for this new entitlement program?
Ok, so you have government paying for your employees insurance now, but where do you think the government is going to get that money? Well, if we take Obama at his word, he's going to raise taxes on the dreaded "rich".
Well anyone who has been following the debate at all or has read through the house/senate bills can tell you that pretty much anyone that owns a small business of any appreciable size will now fall under the category of being "rich". I've heard quite a few numbers tossed around for a "cut-off" of who would be considered rich. $200,000, $250,000, even as low as $125,000 net income per year. Remember that the $125,000 to $250,000 cut off doesn't apply to your gross earnings, the amount of money you actually take home, it applies to your net earnings, the amount of money your business takes in before any expenses or taxes are figured in to the mix. That means it doesn't take much of a business to make that much in net earnings. Most independent truckers, for example, with a single truck and a single employee (themselves) gross more than this per year. Of course when you factor in all the expenses, licensing, fuel, etc their take home pay is much much less than this, but under the Obama administration guess what? They're considered "rich".
So yes, while the amount of money your paying for "health care" for your employees might go down, guess what? The amount of money your paying in taxes is going to go way, way up - far more so than what you were paying in health care costs initially.
Anyone who actually owns a small business and has enough of an accounting background should realize this almost immediately. Anyone who doesn't understand enough accounting to grasp this simple concept shouldn't be doing their own accounting and should hire a good cpa who would tell them the same thing almost immediately.
And just where do you think small businesses, large busineses and the dreaded "rich" will get the money to pay all these new and increased taxes? They'll do what they'll have to do, they'll raise the prices of the goods and services they provide to offset this new cost of doing business. Again, accounting 101.
So who really gets hit with the blowback from all these? Same people that always do whenever the government raises taxes, the middle class. Honestly folks it's time to stop all this silly class warefare rhetoric and face reality, any new tax regardless of what supposed income level they are targeting it against, will always come back to hit the middle class.
Raise taxes on any business or business owner and they treat it the way they have to treat it, as a business expense. If you raise taxes on walmart do you think they take that money out of their profit margin? If they do their stock prices get hurt and their stockholders get mad. No, they do what they have to do, they raise the prices of the products they sell to cover that cost. So does every other business. You raise taxes on them, they raise the price of the goods or services they provide. If they provide goods or services to another business, that business might also have to raise the prices of the goods or services it provides to compensate for that increase in cost.
The biggest myth in all of this I think is that some how government run health care is "free". It isn't. No government service is, and none ever will be. Whenever another entitlement program gets passed the cost of it always falls quite squarely on the middle class, despite the rhetoric and regardless of which political party institutes it.
So if you do run a business, or even if you don't, you might seriously wish to reconsider it, because you'll end up paying for it one way or the other, and odds are good once the government gets involved the price is going to go up. It always has.
Little food for thought.
10 Reasons Why Obama is a Terrible President
I'm assuming the original poster, Pastor Dave, will be able to come up with his own top 10 list easily enough, but since the poster that replied to him seem to feel this would be too daunting a task for anyone to acheive I'll list my own top 10, off the top of my head.
10. Dishonesty. President Obama has lied or mistated facts on many occasions, things that are easily verifiable as lies and these lies were told soley to advance issues of his agenda such as Health Care. You may cite my previous post for specific examples.
9. Lack of Focus The President and his political advisors have wasted a ton of time, energy and effort on things like nationalizing our Health care system to deal with something that quite frankly doesn't really rise to the level of being a true national emergency. In the meantime they have spent almost no time dealing with real national emergencies, such as the emergence of a nuclear Iran, or if you prefer the domestic agenda jobs and the economy. That ridiculous "jobs" bill was only put on the table after he's been lambasted by an angry public about he and the Democrats total inattentiveness to this issue, and will do basically nothing to create new jobs.
8. Decrying Partisanship while being and uber-partisan Our President talks a real good game about "changing the tone" in Washington, but so far it's been all talk. He and the Democratically controlled congress completely shut out the republicans until Scott Brown got elected, it was only after they needed a least a miniscule amount of republican support that they made a laughable and transparent gesture of the bipartisan meeting on health care, announcing at it's conclusion that they'd ram through their bill as is without republican support by changing the rules in the middle of the game. Despicable.
6. Out of Control Spending I don't think this one needs a lot of explanation, and before some one points out that the Bush administration spent way to much money too guess what, I criticized them for it as well. Both parties have a terrible track record in this regard and need to clean up their act.
5. Playing the race card Whenever anyone tries to criticize the President or his policies one of his supporters almost always falls back on the notion that it's because of race. Despicable. What's even worse is that the President makes sure to portray himself as "above the fray" in this regard and lets his political cronies make these unfounded charges when it's painfully obvious that they would cease and desist if he told them too. No he wants it both ways, he has cronies play the race card for him and then when asked for comment he'll throw out a mild, "Well I don't see it as racism" statement long after the damage is already done.
4. Policies of Appeasement and Apology Ok, I do have to give credit where credit is due and say that I agree with Obama's decision to prosecute the war in afghanistan. That having been said, he's spent most of his Presidency either apologizing for our nation overseas or doing really stupid things like giving enemy combatants US Constitutional rights and trying them in civilian courts or completely crippling our intelligence gather capabilities by not only disavowing the use of enhanced interrogation but going so far as to attempt to prosecute/discredit those who engaged in such activities prior to his taking office. This sort of "if we were only nicer to the terrorists" philosphy is not just fundamentally naive, it's incredibly dangerous.
3. General Whining Nothing is less Presidential than coming on national TV and whining about how a news organization or some conservative commentator didn't give you a fair shake. Your the President of the United States for goodness sake. You have all the airtime you want to get out your message anytime you want too call a press conference. Grow up. If you have some actual facts to refute your critics with then present them, you have the biggest podium in the world to do it from. Either way quit whining about it.
2. Elitetism Extreme Nothing characterizes the Obama administration's disdain for the average citizen more than their statements in regards to the Tea party's and their supporters. These are people who have great concerns about the direction of our nation and are organizing and gathering together to express those concerns. You may not agree with them, but to degrade them as you have is beneath contempt.
And finally, the number one reason I think Obama is a terrible president:
1.No respect for history What so few people seem to grasp, the President and his cronies in particular, is that we've gone down this road before - most recently under the Carter administration. It's a disaster just waiting for a place to happen. Everything Obama is doing right now to the economy has been tried and has failed every place it's ever been tried. And yet he continues to persist in this idiotic notion that government is the answer to all ills. It isn't, never has been, and never will be.
Ok, there's my top ten list. Flame away oh flaming liberals :)
What I don't like about Obama - the Abridged Version
While the poster was probably kindler and gentler than I will be in answering this question, I thought it might make an interesting topic for the first blog I wrote after what has been in essence an extended vacation from blogging.
What I don't like about Obama. Ok, well, first and foremost, he's fundamentally dishonest, which is not a trait I particularly care for in most people, and one I have a difficult time accepting in a President.
Take this health care debate, for example. Obama spent a lot of time assuring people that say, abortion, would not be federally funded under the new bill. He's stated this on several occasions, and yet other than the Stupak amendment which was later removed, the bill does now and has pretty much always allowed for the federal funding of abortions. No matter where you stand on the issue of abortion, or whether you think it's something that should or shouldn't be federally funded, you shouldn't say one thing about your bill or proposal that you know to be completely false.
This is the sort of dishonesty that I don't think should be allowed from members of either political party, and sadly we as voters all to often simply accept it as a fundamental part of our political process. We should hold those in power accountable for such things, and until we do we simply get the government we deserve. Naturally this is only one of dozens of examples I can cite where our President has outright lied to the public on such matters of policy.
Don't get me wrong, I don't expect the President or any elected official to tell us the entire truth all of the time, in matters of national security for example I expect certain secrets to be kept. But to tell the public something you know is totally untrue (such as these whoppers they keep telling us about how this monster is won't add to our national debt) is something else entirely.
While I disagree with the President on many matters of policy, I respect those who stand up for what they believe even if I happen to believe they are wrong. What I cannot respect is someone who tells out and out lies to further a specific agenda. If your agenda is truly something you believe in, and truly something worth support, you don't have to lie about it.
On a personal note, good to be back blogging again. Let the childish flame war begin.. rotfl.
